The three main pillars are legal literacy, financial literacy and menstrual hygiene management.
We work with menstruators to capacitate them with knowledge about sanitation and how to demand for better and equal access to sanitary products.
Our goal is to ensure all women have financial independence and young people have the ability to make informed financial decisions.
We wish to create legal knowledge and tools accessible for women to understand their rights and response channels
Menstrual Hygiene Management or MHM involves initiatives that focus on eradicating period poverty and the stigma associated with menstruation. The projects involve the provision of material and knowledge goods to underprivileged and underserved menstruators.
Under the campaign #SpotTheStigma, which was launched on 8 March 2021 under Girl Up Rise, we target two components of MHM: access to sanitary absorbents and access to menstrual education. We collected Rs 35,000 and distributed 10,000 pads with 10+ partners in 6 states.
India is home to over one-fifth of the world's population and has a nearly 80% literacy rate. Unfortunately, only 24% of the country's population is financially literate. This pillar of Her Haq recognizes the importance of financial literacy in practice.
A financial bootcamp based on this pillar was organised by the team. This two-day workshop comprised of sessions on multiple topics including Applying for Student Loans and Scholarships, Personal Finances, Budgeting, and Tax Planning and Income Tax Returns Filing among others. We aim to make knowledge of personal financial management lucrative and accessible.
Recognising the importance legal literacy plays in achieving self-dependence and we at Her Haq aim to facilitate empowerment that has longer-term implications. The Legal Wing that spearheads the ideation and implementation of projects that carry forward this pillar has especially been instituted within the organisation.
The team has cautiously curated comprehensible modules on a multitude of topics like 'The Cybercrime Act' , 'The Indian Penal Code', 'Consumer Protection Act' , etc. Conducting informative sessions through prolific collaborations is one potential extension and plan for the propagation of this pillar.
